New Copa MX updates
The Copa MX will have 14 Ascenso MX and 14 Liga MX teams. The top teams of each group will continue to be qualified to the Final Phase and be seeded 1 through 8. Unlike the last edition this time the higher seed will decide what order the teams will play as the home and away team. When Liga MX teams play Ascenso MX teams the FMF will look closely into the 3 foreigner rule. When two Liga MX teams play against each other they will be allowed to play the 5 foreigner rule. The schedule and rules will be set up after the Segunda Division Premier final is played. It is being brought to people’s attention that Murcielagos de Guamuchil do not have all the requirements to move up to Ascenso MX and Ballenas Galeana do have a possibility of meeting all the requirements. The closest team of meeting all requirements out of all Segunda Division Premier teams is Tepic. The best possibility to promote one of the two teams is to sell it to Irapuato or La Piedad.
